Mr. Walsh began writing professionally as a contributing reporter for the United Football League’s inaugural season, providing coverage of the New York/Hartford Sentinels for the league’s web site and press materials. He began his syndicated column, Walsh’s Wonderings, for Hersam-Acorn newspapers in 2010. Today the column continues in syndication through Hearst Connecticut Media Group., which bought Hersam Acorn in 2018. Over the years, the column has been syndicated in sixteen newspapers and continues to bring him great joy today.
Both his fiction and nonfiction writing can be found in many anthologies, including Chicken Soup for the Soul, Eclectica Magazine’s Best Nonfiction collection, and multiple editions of the In Our Own Words: A Generation Defining Itself compendiums. He managed to bookend his “Best Creative Writer” award from sixth grade with top honors in nonfiction at the 2018 Trumbull Literary Competition.
He received his BA degree in English from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and his MA degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He’s taught eighth grade English for the last twenty years and figures to retire in about twenty more.
